"Non-toxic" isn't a regulated word, on a label it can mean almost anything. We exist to cut through it: an independent, reader-first guide that ignores the marketing and organizes what authoritative sources actually say, so you can choose safer kitchen products with confidence. Every claim is cited; a commission never changes a ranking.

I started Non-Toxic Kitchen Co. to organize what regulators and peer-reviewed research actually say about kitchen products, in plain English, with every claim cited.
Help people buy safer kitchen products without the fear-marketing, by translating the evidence, not selling a scare.
The "non-toxic" category is full of unregulated claims: "PFAS-free," "food-grade," "non-toxic." None of them are government-verified, and several mean far less than they imply. Our job is to explain what each term does and doesn't guarantee, read the actual chemistry of a material, and rank real products by what their makers disclose, with every health or safety statement linked to an authoritative source you can check yourself.
We're reader-first and independent. We don't take payment for placement, we don't manufacture demand, and we say plainly where the evidence runs out.
Most review sites assert a verdict. We show our work and let the evidence lead.
"Non-toxic" and "PFAS-free" are unregulated. We explain what a label does and doesn't mean instead of repeating it.
Every safety claim links to the EPA, FDA, NIH or peer-reviewed research, so you can verify, not just trust us.
A coating is a wear item with proprietary chemistry, so we rank coating-free materials ahead of even the best-marketed coated pans.
Here's the part most "review" sites won't say out loud: we don't run a test kitchen, and we don't run a lab. Our authority is editorial research synthesis, we organize manufacturer specifications, published third-party lab reports and certifications (NSF/ANSI, Prop 65), authoritative sources (EPA, FDA, NIH), and aggregated verified-owner reviews into a clear recommendation.
That means you'll never see us claim "we seared on it" or "our lab found." You'll see "the manufacturer's test report shows," "the EPA notes," and "verified owners report", attributed, hedged and honest. It's a different promise than hands-on testing, and we think it's a more transparent one. Read the full methodology →
Founder & Editor
I founded and edit Non-Toxic Kitchen Co. My role is editorial: I gather the specs, certifications and authoritative sources for each product and category, cross-check the marketing against what regulators and peer-reviewed research actually report, and organize it into guides that are honest about their limits.
To be clear about what that is and isn't: these guides are research syntheses, not hands-on tests or lab results, and they aren't based on professional credentials, they're based on transparent sourcing you can follow. Where the evidence is strong, I say so; where it's thin, I say that too. See exactly how we research →

A commission never changes a ranking or a verdict. We rank by disclosed chemistry, certification and aggregated owner reviews, the same way whether a product has an affiliate link or not. When a maker won't disclose its chemistry, we say the chemistry is unknown rather than rank it as "safe." Read our full affiliate disclosure →
Our recommendations are organized from primary and authoritative sources, cited on every guide:
Informational only, not medical advice. We translate what regulators and peer-reviewed research report; we don't diagnose, treat, or make safety guarantees. Consult a qualified professional for medical guidance.
